Jacobson Takes Batting And HR Title, Gaylord Gets RBI Crown

Here are the final stats for the 2008 Lakeville Athletics Cannon Valley League season:

As a team the Athletics hit .238 with 78 runs scored and 154 runs against, although the team played without many key players often.

Winning the individual batting title for the Athletics with a .373 average was newcomer and shortstop Derek Jacobson, a CVL all-star his first season with the team. Jacobson also won the HR title with two. He led in nine offensive categories overall.

Taking the RBI crown for the second year in a row was veteran centerfielder Jon Gaylord who drove in 13 runs for the second time in as many years. Gaylord also led the team in doubles with nine. Gaylord won the triple crown for the Athletics last year, leading the team in every single offensive category with a total of 29 hits and a hefty .408 batting average.
